Nathan Chan was born in Toronto, Canada and is currently in his fourth year studying product design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
He works by jumping between thinking, sketching, making, researching, and Solidworks. It is a process of continuous searching and refinement. In every project he plays with form, material, colour, and construction to find a way to communicate just the essence. He believes that there should be an obvious reason for the way things are formed, an honesty and integrity that aligns each element of the project from concept to presentation. In this way, a unique kind of beauty can be created, an elegant rationality, soft but powerful. In this age, it seems like the making of good quality physical things has become a rare, almost noble pursuit, the role of designers should be to communicate the beauty of their creation.
